Li Xia was saved by Yu Yingxue on the very first day after she transmigrated. Three months later, she and Yu Yingxue became husband and wife.
Though she was mortal and her husband had only mediocre magic, they lived a peaceful, happy life.
That is, until their third year together, when she discovered she was in a male-lead novel. Yu Yingxue was an Immortal Venerable who had descended to the mortal world to undergo a trial with his memories erased, while she was the reincarnation of a demon god, destined to be the wife he would kill to prove his Dao.
Li Xia was sad for a few days, then quickly came to terms with it. She went on eating and drinking as usual, asking Yu Yingxue to train hard so he could buy her the prettiest clothes, and practice cooking so he could roast her the tastiest chicken. She enjoyed the last bit of carefree time she had.
When she could no longer suppress the demon aura on her, she secretly left Yu Yingxue, crawled into a cocoon, and sealed herself inside.
That way, her demon aura wouldn't leak out and bring disaster upon the world, and when Yu Yingxue's sword came down, it wouldn't hurt quite so much.
She waited and waited, until at last the world-splitting sword from the novel arrived...
It cleaved apart the heavens above, which had urged him to kill his wife and prove his Dao, and the earth below, where the cocoon had bound her. It cut them both to pieces.
Li Xia was stunned.
Her husband descended from the sky, gathered her into his arms, wiped the dust from her face, and carried her back to their ramshackle home.
"Hungry?" He looked down at her. "I just heated up three dishes and a soup."
