[Free-spirited, irreverent comedy blogger x arrogant snake with two secret identities and a hopelessly romantic heart]
The day Shu Qing quit her job on a whim, a little snake demon fell from the sky and wrecked her home.
The little snake demon's origins were unknown, but it was stunningly beautiful, with translucent white scales and blood-red eyes.
Shu Qing decided to keep it and make it work off its debt.
The little snake demon was fierce and disobedient.
When she washed it and touched its cold tail, it slapped her with it, splashing water everywhere.
When she tried to take its picture, it coiled fiercely around her hand and bit her fingertip.
When she tried to put a collar on it, it shook its head, snapped the collar, and swam away without looking back...
And yet, at the Yokai Management Bureau, it protected her from the demons surrounding them. Late at night, its smooth belly scales would sometimes brush silently against her palm.
Shu Qing thought she could keep it forever. Until one day, she found her little snake demon in the Yokai Management Bureau's database.
Demon King Jiu Su. Energy level cannot be assessed. The disasters he caused resulted in the greatest loss of life ever recorded. Poisoned by Lord Xiashan in the Northern Frontier seventeen hundred years ago, he has now revived for unknown reasons.
His supervisor, Shu Qing, is highly suspected to be the reincarnation of Lord Xiashan's soul. Keep her under close surveillance and ensure her personal safety.
Shu Qing: …
Can I still pack up and run away?
"It's too late for that."
A snow-white tail wound around her, slowly climbing from her ankle to her waist. The familiar presence enveloped her from behind.
Soft silver hair fell over her shoulder. The ferocious Demon King nestled into the crook of her neck, his cheek against the pulse at her throat, their breaths mingling.
"You said you'd keep me."
She met a pair of crimson, slit-pupiled eyes. They held nothing but her. He stared straight at Shu Qing, took her hand, and guided it as she fastened the crude collar around his neck once more.
"Are you going to abandon me again, Lord Xiashan?"
[Reading Guide]
1. Modern urban supernatural setting, one-on-one romance, both leads have only had each other, happy ending.
2. Female-male romance throughout, with a tiny amount of gender reversal in the power dynamic.
3. The mass casualties caused by the snake in the blurb happened during wartime.
The author's other ongoing novel, Human, Can Dragons Keep You as a Pet?, is updating now. If you're interested, please add it to your collection~
Blurb:
A dragon who rules over a sea full of demons found a mortal girl.
The mortal girl was delicate and fussy. She complained that the spirit fish tasted bad, the cave was too bare, the straw wasn't soft enough, and her eyes welled with tears.
The dragon ground his teeth and thought, I'll eat her tomorrow.
The next day, the girl fed the dragon a string of grilled fish. The fish smelled delicious, sweet with a hint of spice. After eating it all, the dragon decided to wait a few more days before eating her.
A few days later, a residence had been built on the island. The girl planted flowers in the courtyard, and tucked the prettiest one between the dragon's horns. The dragon admired himself in the water and decided to eat her next time.
Later, the dragon gradually grew used to the warm, soft bed, with its gauze curtains draped all around, making a world of its own.
The dragon decided not to eat her. He wanted to keep her forever.
On the mortal girl's birthday, shooting stars filled the sky like rain. The dragon rested in the hollow of her shoulder and listened as she closed her eyes and clasped her hands to make a wish.
"I wish I didn't have to be mortal anymore," she said. "Mortals are so powerless. I want to cultivate. I heard that the bones of a deep-sea demon dragon can cleanse your bones and create spiritual channels, giving even a mortal with no talent a chance to become an immortal..."
The dragon's eyes widened in disbelief.
A sharp blade pierced his dragon scales, and golden-red dragon blood splashed across the mortal girl's pale face.
The dragon lifted his head in confusion and heard her say, it seemed, "...I'm sorry."
The mortal girl disappeared.
The dragon sat alone in a pool of golden-red blood, cradling his wounded tail as he gazed at the endless sea, heartbroken.
He thought, I never want to see her again. I absolutely won't go looking for her!
Then he thought, But I'm a dragon. A mortal tricked me. Shouldn't I go find her and get revenge?
Exactly. The dragon decided to go find her for revenge.
He flew across the sea toward Kunlun.
[Bonus Scene]
Later, Ye Chenyin was worn out by all the different ways Xi Wei found to take his "revenge" on her.
At her wits' end, she gave up and said, "If you want revenge, then go ahead."
Xi Wei: "Oh."
Ye Chenyin: .
Ye Chenyin: "Wait... Is this the kind of revenge I meant?"
[Fragile, dramatic little white flower x arrogant, gluttonous little white dragon]
1. Both leads have only had each other. The male lead has no romantic history. The female lead was once engaged to the second male lead, who was reduced to ashes in the cremation ground.
2. The main story is told from the female lead's perspective.
3. My own take on fantasy, with lots of original worldbuilding.
4. Physically female-male romance, with a little gender reversal in the power dynamic; the woman takes the lead.
5. Please add it to your collection~ Thank you all.
Theme: Break free from constraints and conditioning, and build a beautiful life of your own.
"It is coiled in the corner of the computer desk," giving the author a big worm~
