Because his dad's sister's son was making a name for himself in basketball, his heartless (cross that out) father waved a hand and told Jin Sheng to go enjoy his youth instead of staying cooped up at home all day. Under pressure from his father's authority, Jin Sheng quickly took off for his grandmother's house in Miyagi.
He thought he could keep enjoying his carefree life, but it turned out his neighbor was an idiot with nothing but volleyball on his mind. To keep his grandmother from finding out he was a friendless hermit, Jin Sheng nervously took his first step toward the neighbor. When he came to his senses, he was holding a volleyball. His brain froze. Why am I playing volleyball? Nooo, I want to be in the go-home club!
Since he wasn't good at socializing, life on the volleyball team wasn't smooth sailing. Jin Sheng, who was best at running away, decided to quit the team in his third year of middle school. Feeling guilty toward his little neighbor, he promised they'd pick volleyball back up together in high school. But things didn't go as planned. Jin Sheng's father had finally run out of patience and was determined to drag him back to Tokyo. Still, Jin Sheng promised Kageyama that even if they weren't together, he would keep his word. And so Nekoma's volleyball team welcomed a cool-faced kitty. In his new surroundings, Jin Sheng gradually discovered the fun of volleyball. For the first time in his life, he took a step outside his plans.
(Content note: The protagonist is extremely talented at volleyball. The cousin mentioned at the beginning is Akashi, so there will be a little bit of Kuroko's Basketball, but it won't be a major part of the story. The protagonist attended Kitagawa Daiichi for middle school and Nekoma for high school. He's not socially anxious in the usual sense; he just doesn't like talking to people.)
Theme: Let's have a thrilling game of volleyball
