Sleeping Beauty in the Tower of Thorns

In the future, there is a profession known as time police. Every one of them is an esper.

Lu Tingfeng is one of them.

One day, Lu Tingfeng receives his first solo assignment: an illegal time traveler has transmigrated through time. To prevent him from causing irreparable damage to the timeline, Lu Tingfeng must go alone and stop him.

That very day, he accidentally enters an estate called Thorn Tower and meets the person who will change his life: Xie Guanyu.

Snow falls in thick flakes, covering their heads. Elderly Xie Guanyu is admiring the snow in his backyard when Lu Tingfeng intrudes into his estate.

Facing this unexpected visitor, Xie Guanyu says, "It's snowing heavily. You'll catch a chill, Mr. Lu. Won't you come in for a cup of hot tea?"

During another assignment, Lu Tingfeng ventures out into a snowstorm.

Young Xie Guanyu leans against the doorway. "It's snowing this hard and you're still going out? Are you out of your mind?"

Lu Tingfeng: "?"

Almost every time Lu Tingfeng goes on a mission, he runs into Xie Guanyu at the scene, at a different age each time.

Lu Tingfeng demands, "Why do you keep showing up at my mission sites?"

Xie Guanyu finds it strange too. Why does something weird always happen whenever he runs into Lu Tingfeng?

Xie Guanyu replies, "I should be asking you why weird people and things always show up whenever you do!"

Why do you think Lu Tingfeng is such a jerk?

Xi Huanan fumes, "You know what happened the last time I asked him what he thought of Xie Guanyu's looks?"

"He said, 'Beautiful as an elf. Seeing him makes me happy, and just thinking about him makes my heart flutter. Both handsome and beautiful, so cool and refined...'"

"Then I asked him what he thought of my looks. Do you know what he said?"

Xi Huanan: "He said, 'So lifelike, it's hard to tell you're not real.'"

Edward remembers this and laughs so hard he can barely stand. "I told him to interrogate a suspect. Half a day later, he said the guy wouldn't say anything and could only babble."

"Turns out the suspect was mute. Lu Tingfeng cuffed his hands behind his back first, then demanded he confess."

"He expected a mute man who couldn't use sign language to speak. Hahahahahaha!"

Xie Guanyu locks Lu Tingfeng outside. Lu Tingfeng keeps pounding on the door, demanding that he open it. "What are you doing in there? Let me in! I want to be interviewed with you."

Xie Guanyu shrugs. "There you go."
