Wolf-and-rabbit romance | Lively, sweet young lady x wild, ruthless commander
There were two kinds of people Jiang Sun hated most: those who cheated people out of money, and those who toyed with their feelings.
And someone had the nerve to set their sights on his naive, easily fooled younger brother.
Riding past on horseback, Jiang Sun took one glance and spotted the girl disguised as a boy beside his younger brother.
She blinked her bright, dark eyes, putting on an unbearably affected act.
Jiang Sun had meant to put a stop to her little scheme at once. But the young lady was skilled at acting sweet and innocent, and had his younger brother so thoroughly bewitched that he was about to call on her family to propose.
Jiang Sun narrowed his eyes and gave it some serious thought.
Rather than let her lead his younger brother astray, he might as well keep her by his side. He wanted to see what other tricks she had up her sleeve.
That was, at first, exactly what he intended.
Until one wild night at the spring banquet.
Jiang Sun looked at the sleeping face in his arms, still marked by tear tracks, and considered how it might be to keep her like this from now on... It didn't seem so bad.
Xuanzhu was born into a merchant family. Her father showed her no affection, and her stepmother made life difficult for her.
She had her eye on the Jiang family's innocent young master, thinking that if she married him, at least no one would bully her.
Who would have thought that an accident would land her in bed with the Jiang family's notorious ruthless commander, a bloodthirsty killer?
When Xuanzhu woke up, her eyes were swollen from crying. At least this man, though fierce, was generous with his money.
Every time she cried, he tossed her a silver ingot to soothe her.
Hugging the ingot, Xuanzhu finally stopped sobbing, little by little.
Thinking back on that chaotic, outrageous night, she had to admit that Jiang Sun was... very capable.
A little too capable.
Once she'd counted up enough silver, Xuanzhu rubbed her slightly sore stomach and, after thinking it over, ran away under cover of night.

The carriage rolled out of the street, when suddenly someone lifted the curtain from outside.
In the darkness, Jiang Sun leaned lazily against the carriage wall and looked at her guilty, stubborn eyes. He gave a scoff.
"Where do you think you're going?"
Night fell deep, and the carriage rocked.
Xuanzhu was damp with sweat and whimpered, unable to take any more, while he pinned her wrist above her head with one hand.
A sharp slap rang out in the darkness, accompanied by the man's low, hoarse reprimand:
"Stay down. Don't move."
- Trying to seduce my brother won't do. You can seduce me.
- "Sister-in-law," open up. It's me, your brother-in-law.
- He saw right through her affected act at a glance, but couldn't resist her no matter how hard he tried.
Reader's notes
1. Both leads have flaws. The male lead is not a good or upright person. He's nasty, a shameless rogue who is genuinely driven by lust at first sight.
2. Both leads are virgins. This is a slice-of-life story, not a conventional coercive romance. The female lead doesn't mind being pursued by force, and she won't let herself suffer. She'll make the best of any situation.
3. The female lead has a career storyline, and the male lead will be trained like a dog.
