Short-tempered, softhearted beauty x scheming, sweet-faced younger man
After Shen Kaiyan argued with her boyfriend, the doorbell rang.
Outside stood a handsome young man holding a cat. His eyes were dewy as he said, "Big sis~ Kitty just had a bath. A cuddle will cheer you up."
Shen Kaiyan brusquely refused.
The young man turned away sadly, and the ragdoll cat gazed at her pitifully. Her heart softened. She stopped him, took the cat, and brought it inside.
She didn't know that he had been renting the apartment across the hall from hers for half a month.
Shen Kaiyan and Chen Jing were childhood sweethearts, a handsome and talented couple whom countless people envied.
As their wedding approached, Shen Kaiyan discovered that Chen Jing was cheating on her. He said, "She's like the old you."
Shen Kaiyan was disgusted and broke up with him on the spot.
On the day they split up, her best friend dragged her to a bar to celebrate her newfound singleness. Lu Xingran took her home, drunk as a skunk.
When she woke up the next day, Lu Xingran was lying on her bed, his face flushed as he murmured, "Big sis~ You don't have to take responsibility."
Shen Kaiyan: ?
A month later, Chen Jing regretted it and came to beg her for forgiveness. But behind Shen Kaiyan, Lu Xingran appeared in his pajamas, holding the cat and looking half asleep.
Chen Jing was so jealous he went mad. His eyes red, he demanded, "Why is he at your place?"
Shen Kaiyan raised an eyebrow. "Oh, he's my boyfriend."
Bonus scene:
After they started dating, Lu Xingran would parade around in front of her every night with the cat in his arms. "Big sis~ Kitty wants to sleep at your place."
After he'd done this enough times, she finally agreed.
One day, she woke to find Lu Xingran looking languid and satisfied, while her whole body felt sore and uncomfortable.
Under the bed, the ragdoll meowed and yowled. The more Shen Kaiyan thought about it, the more something seemed off, and the angrier she got. She kicked him out of bed. "Lu Xingran, take your cat and get out."
Lu Xingran grimaced in pain, but still smiled. "So you use me and then toss me aside? That's pretty harsh, big sis."
Shen Kaiyan blushed, then snapped in embarrassment, "Get out! Get out right now!"
Lu Xingran fell for a girl who was cool and distant, with a bit of a temper. But she loved cats, and whenever she held one, her eyes curved into a smile, making her more beautiful than the spring sunshine.
She was five years older than him, though, and had a handsome, gentle boyfriend.
He thought that watching her be happy from afar would be enough, so he rented the apartment across from hers and became her new neighbor.
He never expected her to break up with her boyfriend.
