Fu Yueying was an orphan with no parents, living off the offerings in a deserted temple outside the city.
A huge statue of a god stood in that temple. Years of neglect had faded its colors, but the eyes, made from glassy spheres, still shimmered brilliantly.
Every night, Fu Yueying curled up under the statue's altar to sleep. Then, one day, she dreamed that the statue had come to life and bent down over her with a faint sigh. A pair of hands, white as jade, stroked her head, and a warm current surged through her body.
When she woke, the statue's eyes were gone. Only its hollow, terrifying sockets remained, bleeding at the edges.
In a panic, Fu Yueying stumbled out, only to discover that three hundred years had passed. The world had changed, and everything was different. She could no longer find the place as she remembered it.
Fu Yueying wandered aimlessly through the mortal world for another three hundred years. One day, tired of living, she casually pulled two sisters who had fallen into a river to safety, but never resurfaced herself.
She thought she had died just like that, but to her surprise, she ascended to immortality. Fu Yueying cursed under her breath. What a reckless world!
She decided to return to the ruined temple and settle the score with the immortal from back then. How dare he transform her into an immortal without even discussing it with her? Did being a god mean he could just do whatever he wanted without a shred of decency?!
But all that remained of the old temple was a pile of ruins. It had collapsed so badly that Fu Yueying couldn't piece together the golden body of the statue from all the rubble.
No matter, she reassured herself. Even if the statue was gone, surely she could still find that immortal's true form. Now that she was an immortal herself, finding another immortal ought to be easy.
As it turned out, she had far too much faith in herself. Another three hundred years passed, and she found nothing. Fu Yueying slumped against a tree, dejected.
The crisp sound of a bamboo staff tapping the ground, knock, knock, knock, came from somewhere in the distance and drew closer. She followed the sound with her eyes and saw a slender man with a blindfold, groping his way toward her.
The bamboo staff tapped aimlessly at her toes. Fu Yueying raised an eyebrow. The deadpan face she'd worn for nine hundred years finally broke into a smile. She reached out, grabbed the staff, and grinned mischievously.
Found. You.
Blind. Immortal.

Ji Yunjie was born from the desires in people's hearts. They created him, and they destroyed him.
In his long, dreary immortal life spanning several thousand years, Fu Yueying was the first child he had ever carefully raised.
Fu Yueying had originally been a tiny peach growing on a tree beside the ruined temple. When it fell, it accidentally hit Ji Yunjie on the head.
Far from getting angry, Ji Yunjie turned it into a baby, gave her a name, and raised her (or so he thought).
Later, his glass eyes were gouged out and he became a fallen immortal. The collapse of his faith left him utterly dejected, drifting through the world in a daze.
Until... a little girl stole his bamboo staff to tease him.
[All romantic scenes take place after the characters are adults. The heroine's minor years will not be depicted!!!]

A Wedding in the Open Coffin
Legend has it that the body of the Wu family's ancestor was buried on a water dragon vein. By protecting his descendants with his own body, he ensured the Wu family would enjoy generations of good fortune.
But no one knew where the ancestral tomb was.
Armed with a fragmentary ancient book, Wu Yueti snuck into her family's ancestral tomb, blew open the mechanisms protecting the grave, and flipped the lid off her ancestor's coffin. A model of filial piety, indeed.
At first glance, the ancestor's face was as fair and polished as jade, with rosy cheeks. After hundreds of years, there wasn't a trace of decay. But why did this person look exactly like her archenemy, Shao Song?
Wu Yueti: I think... I may have broken into the wrong tomb?
She was just about to put the lid back on when she looked down and saw four arrogant characters carved into the coffin: "Those who open the coffin die."
...Can I still close it in time?
Wu Yueti × Shao Song
