Don't pick people up off the roadside, especially injured people, and especially injured, beautiful women.

That's what Ye Xianqing learned from experience.

The thatched cottage Grandma left behind was burned down, and the medicinal herb fields that were almost ready to harvest were destroyed.

Take revenge?

No way. Staying alive comes first. She'll take the little white rabbit, Chujiu, and seek refuge with her second aunt. She heard her aunt is an important official in Astrologer City, so surely she'll be fine there.

But the journey is full of mishaps. First their carriage is stolen, then she's captured and forced to work as a teacher at a bandit stronghold...

She's saved plenty of people and killed plenty, too.

The journey is full of trials and dangers.

None of that matters. As long as the little white rabbit is safe.

At last, they reach Astrologer City, only to find it's the lair of the great demon. The little white rabbit and the great demon have never appeared together...

Scene One: You burned down my ancestral home and destroyed my herb fields. I'll make sure none of you can take a dump.

Scene Two: I echoed someone saying we should bring down the great demon, and then got coldly rejected when I tried to get intimate that night.

Scene Three: The little white rabbit is the great demon. If I've been doing all those things with her, won't I soon end up dead without a burial place? I have to run for my life! But the great demon blocks me inside the room, eyes red as she asks, "You don't want me anymore?"

Theme: Do good deeds without expecting anything in return
