Lu Shijian had only just graduated from college when she found herself unemployed. After spending more than half a year loafing around at home, she was kicked out by her mother to look for a job. That very day, she picked up a strange flyer and was pulled into a survival game.
Scorching heat, torrential rain, bitter cold, oceans... The game threw one survival challenge after another at its players. Completing them earned points and survival coins, which could be exchanged for real-world money.
Chu Rongyu was a mage. A mistake during her research into the laws of space left her gravely injured, and she was swept by spatial turbulence into a plane on the verge of destruction.
Lying in a small alley, she heard footsteps approaching and wearily shifted her head, but quickly began assessing the situation.
Then she decisively used the last trace of her mental strength to cast a transformation spell. She became a palm-sized calico cat and crouched in the corner, perfectly calm as she secretly watched a young woman sneak in to rummage through the trash, until the woman furtively picked her up and carried her away.
After successfully clearing the first survival world, Lu Shijian returned to reality. She looked at the cat she had brought back in her arms, and at the money she had just exchanged into her bank account.
She never expected this game to be so generous. Not only could it help her earn money, it had even given her a cat!
At first, Lu Shijian thought this was just an extraordinary adventure. But as time went by, she realized that disasters similar to those in the game were beginning to unfold in the real world, too.
As disasters spread, prices started soaring. To take better care of her cat, Lu Shijian had no choice but to enter the game again and again, scavenging for points and survival coins.
