Why Is the Princess I Married a Man?

Blurb for now. Let me revise it some more.

After ten years of hard study, the bottom passes the imperial examinations and becomes the top scholar. The emperor betroths him to a princess, making him her consort.

On their wedding night, the princess says she is too frail to share a bed. The bottom says that's fine; they can wait until her health improves.

But as time goes by, the princess still hasn't recovered, yet she's secretly gathering power and plotting a rebellion?

By the time the bottom finds out, it's too late. He's already become one of her pawns. What else can he do but join her rebellion?

But how did the princess turn into a man while they were rebelling???
