The reward isn’t all that tempting, but the penalty is terrifying. Fortunately, the young real estate agent is willing to go with him, so Mo Chen feels a little less afraid.
The door swings open. A gust of icy wind blows it shut with a deafening bang.
“Ah!”
Huai Ye, who stands six foot three, screams and clings to Mo Chen’s arm, trembling all over.
Mo Chen stares at him in disbelief. “Are you kidding me? You’re even more scared than I am?”
The wardrobe door creaks. A crimson figure crawls out from beneath the bed, a long trail of blood stretching behind her as she approaches step by step.
“Darling... you finally... came to keep me company...”
Mo Chen panics and flails around with his peachwood sword. His hand slips, and the sword flies off, its hilt hitting the female ghost squarely on the nose.
The air goes still. The female ghost sweeps her hair aside and gets up, shrieking furiously, “Could you at least take your job seriously? How can you insult a ghost like that?”
With his legs trembling, Mo Chen coaxes and placates her until he fulfills the vengeful ghost’s wish and manages to complete the mission.
To earn a commission, Huai Ye becomes his partner. This six-foot-three grown man cowers behind Mo Chen every time, clutching his waist and saying, “I’m scared.”
The missions grow harder, and the rewards grow stranger.

Mo Chen turns around, confused. “Your Majesty? The King of Hell? Are they talking to you?”
Huai Ye shakes his head like a rattle drum, burying his face in Mo Chen’s neck. “Baby, I’m so scared. You have to protect me.”
