Two people under one roof, three meals a day, four seasons spent savoring a slow life.
In an alley in Qingzhou, Jiangnan, there's an unassuming place called the Spring Creek Inn. The cook, Ye Qingsui, is an ordinary person who simply wants to run an ordinary restaurant and live an ordinary life. She's a superb cook, but her shop is tucked away and business is slow. Then one day, during a torrential downpour, the down-on-his-luck scholar Song Wenzhou, unable to score a free meal, latches onto her.
Song Wenzhou claims to be a penniless bookkeeper, but the "poetry menus" he writes attract plenty of scholars and connoisseurs, and the little inn gradually flourishes. At night, he secretly copies books for the neighbor's child; in the morning, she quietly makes him a bowl of stomach-warming porridge.
A sweet little story of everyday life and street-corner warmth. No household intrigue or political schemes, just the comforts of daily life.
This is my first book. I initially wanted to add a few twists, but after writing more than ten chapters, I didn't want to make things hard for the two of them. So I changed the outline. When you're writing your own book, you don't have to hurt your own protagonists.
