[A gentle, clear-eyed little moon, a blind younger sister x a proud, sharp-tongued rich young master]
Xiang Yan has been blind for years and is long accustomed to the dark.
But on her way home from a summer job this vacation, some thugs keep harassing her.
Feeling her way along, she knocks on the neighbor auntie's door for help, only to hear a low, hoarse young man's voice, still thick with sleep.
"Who is it? So early in the morning..."
The boy leans against the doorframe, his hair tousled and sticking up, his eyes heavy with sleep.
When he sees a pretty blind girl clutching her white cane, his complaint dies on his lips.
"Who... are you?"
Xiang Yan is at a loss.
"You're asking me?"
He raises an eyebrow and folds his arms, looking at the girl in front of him.
"Didn't you knock on the wrong door?"
-
Because of his outrageous behavior, Qi Jixing has been "banished" by his family to the poor neighborhood.
The rich young master has never taken out the trash, ridden a crowded bus, or dealt with a ceiling that leaks in the middle of the night.
Thanks to Xiang Yan's help, he slowly gets used to life here.
Even so, Young Master Qi still acts like he couldn't care less about her.
"Why are you helping her?"
Qi Jixing folds his arms, looking impatient. "She got herself into trouble. She can deal with it herself."
That's what he says, but Xiang Yan notices that the thugs who used to give her trouble haven't shown up in ages.
Even the pervert in the building opposite has mysteriously moved away and stopped bothering her.
She thinks it's all just a coincidence.
When she tells Qi Jixing what she's thinking, he scowls, reaches out, and turns her face away with his fingers.
"Don't look at me!"
The boy's tone is fierce. "Stupidity is contagious. I don't want to turn stupid from having you stare at me."
-
Without realizing it, the two grow closer.
But the good times don't last. Before long, the Qi family learns about them.
Qi Jixing is forced back home before he even has time to say goodbye.
And just like that, they lose touch.
Years later, Xiang Yan is lucky enough to have her eyesight restored.
She gets into university, goes on to graduate school, and then finds a job. Everything goes smoothly.
When they meet again, she's the project lead and meets the CEO of the company they're working with.
The man is dressed in a sharp suit, his features stern. He's nothing like the irritable, awkward boy she remembers.
He doesn't even look at her twice.
Xiang Yan thinks the older boy next door from her youth has forgotten her, so she lowers her eyes and quietly gets on with her work.
Until the banquet ends.
She's pulled into an empty lounge.
The drunk man's voice is low and hoarse, and his burning fingertips tremble as they touch her eyelid.
"Are your eyes still not better?"
"Hm?"
"Then why..."
His voice is so hoarse he can barely speak.
"...are you pretending you can't see me?"
[When he was young, he hated her blind eyes most of all.]
[Later, he wished no one else would ever appear in her eyes again.]
