I’m the Grim Reaper of Beika Town

[Written in third person]

I'm Xilixike. I'm currently on a study trip to the sacred city of Mihua Town with Teacher Kitty, on my way to becoming a professional Grim Reaper. As soon as I arrived, I ran into the chosen supply pack, Conan, so I went to find him.

Who knew that along with acquiring the aura of death, I'd also take in a bunch of useless junk? Actions that used to seem meaningless to me suddenly started getting blown out of proportion, and emotions I should never have felt began to taint me. That went on until I found a way to solve the problem.

But when my magic supply pack learned the truth, he stared at me in terror. Uh... Conan, is your eye twitching?

I'm high school detective Shinichi Kudo. After witnessing a transaction by the Black Organization, I was force-fed a poison. When I woke up, my body had shrunk, turning me into Conan Edogawa. My body may be small, but my mind is just as sharp. One day, a "girl" latched onto me.

Why did I put "girl" in quotation marks? Because she's not human, even if she looks like one. She's a Grim Reaper, and she wants to use the "aura of death" in me to become a real Grim Reaper.

She said she'd take me through time to change the regrets of the past. At first, I was fooled by her human-like appearance and easily believed this poison who had bewitched a great detective.

I never expected...

What does it feel like when a super-rational deduction fanatic suddenly starts believing in ghosts and gods and traveling through time?

Did Edogawa's brain shrink along with his body when he turned into a child? That's what Haibara Ai thought at first.

But what if it was real? Wouldn't that mean her sister could be saved? So she sought out the new employee at Poirot.

Afterward, Haibara Ai often dreamed of a parallel world where she beat up the FBI, trampled the Public Security Bureau, and forced the winery's key players to survive in the cracks.

As a member of Public Security, Amuro Tooru dreams of giving everything for his country. His best friend did the same and gave his life for it. That has always been a regret Amuro could never make up for.

Then one day, he accidentally deduced the truth: the new employee at his part-time job could travel through time, but her power only worked on Conan.

What was he supposed to do? Threats and persuasion were useless, so Amuro turned his attention to Conan's childhood friend.

"Ran must have a hard time. I hear waiting for someone when you don't know when they'll come back is lonely."

With Conan staring at him in horror, he continued, "Don't worry, I'm not going to steal you from your big brother Shinichi. When he comes back, I'll return to where I belong."

Conan: !!!!! Just destroy the world already!

Reader's Guide

1. The Police Academy Five will appear, but this isn't specifically a story about saving them.

2. The story focuses mainly on friendship and family, with some romance as well, referring to the canon pairings Shinichi and Ran, and Heiji and Kazuha.

3. Characters will be written in line with the original. If you think they're out of character, it's probably because your interpretation differs from the author's.

4. This story was written last year and has been sitting in my drafts. At first I thought it was from July, but when I checked my notes, I found it was from late May. (I really didn't expect it would take this long, orz.) Once I finish this one, I'll fill in the gaps in my previous story. I probably won't write another Detective Conan fanfic after that, unless one day Japan becomes one of our provinces.
