The inspiration for their meeting over playing cards comes from Chapter 16, "A Very Frosty Christmas," in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. George tells Ron they're going to a stationery shop to do magic tricks for a Muggle girl.

I know that I didn't agree on the name of the new character because I gave him a hundred names, and I changed the last two names again and again. I didn't even think about it myself.
