Qin Family Village has a guardian of the village.
He's slow-witted. They say a high fever when he was five left him that way. He has only his older sister to rely on, and they live in poverty. In winter, he can't even bring himself to wear a padded coat.
He's covered in mud and filthy all day long.
So people bully him wherever he goes. They make him work, curse at him, and give him too little to eat and nothing warm to wear.
One day, a hot spring is discovered in Qin Family Village.
A hot spring resort project is established there.
Qin Yi hears they're hiring for the project. The boss is a man named Yu Jinshang.
He's always cold-faced, and Qin Yi is a little afraid of him. But he wants to make life easier for his sister.
So he eagerly helps Yu Jinshang with his work.
Yu Jinshang is an iceberg that's almost impossible to melt. He keeps everyone at a distance, and even the village chief can barely get more than a few words out of him.
Yet this man makes an exception for Qin Yi, the little simpleton, again and again.
Even when Qin Yi is still a filthy little simpleton, Yu Jinshang coldly helps him time after time.
His manner is always icy, though, and it makes Qin Yi feel nervous.
Later, a child pulls Qin Yi's mask off in front of the villagers.
His stunning looks are finally revealed, and the villagers cry out in amazement that the little simpleton they'd never paid any attention to is actually so beautiful.
The villagers marvel, "My goodness, he's as fair as moonlight."
"His eyes shine brighter than gemstones."
"I've lived for decades and never seen anyone so beautiful."
The villagers stare in awe, but Yu Jinshang has already taken Qin Yi away. They keenly notice that this big-city boss seems to treat Qin Yi differently.
After the mask is taken off,
Qin Yi's world starts to change. Wherever he goes, he's always the center of attention.
The same people who used to despise, curse, and bully him now flock to praise him as if they'd all agreed to do so.
Then, one day...
The project team is getting ready to leave.
Yu Jinshang is getting ready to leave, too.
Qin Yi happily gives him a little dog he carved himself and wishes him happiness.
But Yu Jinshang pushes him into the car and locks him in so he can't get out.
Yu Jinshang says, "Your sister doesn't want you anymore. She sold you to me. I'll take you home. You don't want to stay here, do you?"
