Xie Zhi had been in love with Chen Shengming for ten years. When she finally heard that Chen was engaged to someone else, Xie Zhi threw the treasured watch into her drink right in front of her, cutting off all contact.

She never expected that, after drinking herself into a stupor, she would spend the night with a woman whose scent reminded her of Chen Shengming. A few days later, that woman became her neighbor, her best friend's boss, and, unbelievably, a former junior from school!

Good heavens! Xie Zhi packed her bags at home and was about to flee when the woman blocked the doorway.

"Darling, who's this?"

Xie Zhi shrugged. "My former neighbor, the older sister next door."

Wen Jinnan asked, "Do you like her?"

Xie Zhi answered earnestly, "I only like you."

Chen Shengming stood at the door, her face deathly pale.

Later, Xie Zhi still felt a little guilty, so she explained to Wen Jinnan what had happened the first time they met.

Wen Jinnan swallowed a segment of citrus. "Their scents were similar."

"Can you tell us apart now?"

Xie Zhi declared her loyalty. "You're bergamot, she's citron. I can tell the difference."

"Oh."

Xie Zhi was surprised by how readily Wen Jinnan accepted it, and felt relieved, though a little puzzled.

Then, during a visit to Wen Jinnan's parents, she saw her own famous painting hanging boldly in Wen Jinnan's room.

She suddenly remembered how Wen Jinnan always said, "What a coincidence," whenever they met, and how she always went along with whatever Xie Zhi wanted, saying, "Sure."

There was no such thing as fate. It had all been planned from the start.
