[Written in third person. Expected to be a novella or short novel. I'll post it after I finish writing it.]
I saw my mom in a popular livestream on a short-video platform.
I couldn't understand how someone who once treated online games like a plague had become a gaming-addicted streamer after retirement.
She was playing the hottest martial arts game around. Of course I knew the game, because I was one of its creators.
I wondered what she'd think if she knew the game she loved was made by the daughter she'd always berated.
But maybe she didn't care about me anymore.
The internet-famous auntie who streamed at the same time every day had lots of cyber-daughters. They laughed with her, joked around with her, and chatted with her about everyday family matters and their dreams for the future.
I suddenly felt a little sad.
The moon that once shone only on me now shone on everyone but me.
I had no one to blame but myself. Three years ago, I cut off contact with her.
