A little girl named Tangtang had a favorite rag doll, Candy Bunny. She kept Candy Bunny by her bed and hugged it every night as she slept.
But one day, Candy Bunny stopped being content with life as a rag doll. It didn't want to spend its whole life on a five-foot bed.
"Tangtang, I want to go traveling. May I?" Candy Bunny asked.
Tangtang thought about it and said, "You can, but what if I miss you?"
"Don't worry. I'll always sneak out to travel under cover of night, then come back to you whenever you need me," Candy Bunny promised.
With a little bag slung over its shoulder, Candy Bunny set off on one journey after another, traveling far and wide.
Every time it left, it went wherever its fancy took it. Every time it returned, it came home beneath a starry sky.
It even made new friends: Mianmian the Sheep and Bai Miaomiao the Cat.
Candy Bunny told Tangtang about one wonderful trip after another, and Tangtang felt as if she had traveled to the far side of the world with it.
From south to north, across five thousand years, Tangtang and her dolls wandered through traditional culture and ever-changing, fantastical journeys.
