The word Luo Zemu loved most in his twenty years of life was "adventure."
Traveling, seeking adventure, chasing the aurora in Iceland, waiting for meteors in the desert, and measuring the world's latitudes and longitudes with his twenty-year-old footsteps.
Then he fell ill in an accident, and his mother grounded him over a video call. He reluctantly promised to stay home and behave for the rest of his vacation once his trip ended.
A few days later, his mother called and sent him to the home of her best friend’s son, Yan Shuangshi.
Not only was the guy strikingly handsome, he also carried himself like a pampered young master.
Friend: If you've been kidnapped, blink twice.
Luo Zemu: My own mother tied me up and delivered me to him. Does that count as kidnapping? Shouldn't it be called an offering?
But on the day he was forced to move into the apartment, Luo Zemu might have taunted Yan Shuangshi with his words, but he still couldn't help swooning over his face.
...Beauty really is dangerous!
--- A Little Scene ---
When they first moved in together
Yan Shuangshi: Sorry to interrupt, but do I have some tourist attraction on my face? Or are you just very interested in me?
Luo Zemu: Don't flatter yourself. I'm not interested in spoiled young masters. Stop showing off like a peacock and stay away from me.
After they got together
Yan Shuangshi: (Changing clothes)
Luo Zemu: Big brother, would you consider modeling for me? I'm actually pretty good at drawing.
Yan Shuangshi: Do you mean something suitable for broadcast, or not? If you mean the second kind, I'd be happy to help.
Luo Zemu: (Leans over and smears paint on Yan Shuangshi's shirt) What do you think?
Yan Shuangshi: Why aren't you avoiding me anymore? (He holds the back of Luo Zemu's neck and chuckles.)
Luo Zemu: Because I found out you're only pretending to be a peacock.
Because of you, I realized that life is a verb.
"What's fun over there?"
"I don't know, so let's go find out."
When our hands are joined, our rings bump together with a clear, bright sound, like summer, like the sea.
Content warnings:
1. The love interest is older, and there's a considerable age gap: 24 x 19. The recipient is a sophomore when he appears, while the pursuer has already worked with his advisor for several years.
2. The descriptions of university life are generally based on real campus life, but aren't modeled on any specific school. Please don't make assumptions about real people or places.
3. Neither character is perfect. Both have their own flaws, but they'll gradually work through them together, turning from two people who "don't get along" into puzzle pieces that fit.
4. The romance is slow-paced, so keep that in mind if you prefer fast-paced stories.
A free-spirited, do-whatever-he-wants recipient x a peacock-like pursuer who quietly plots his way into the recipient's heart
Next book: So You're the Real Dog After All
Jiang Zhaobai has been overlooked since the day he was born.
His older brother was injured in a car accident, nearly draining the family's savings, while Jiang Zhaobai was the free labor his parents added to the family out of selfishness.
"He's your brother. Blood is thicker than water... You have to support him..." Those same words wore Jiang Zhaobai down for twenty years, and wore away what little hope he had left for the world.
On the rainy night he was about to abandon everything, an umbrella suddenly appeared over his head. He couldn't make out the person's face, so he crouched down and patted the dog beside him.
A flash of white light streaked across the sky
When Jiang Zhaobai opened his eyes again, he found that his sense of smell had become incredibly sharp.
Later, someone told him that an accident had somehow bound his lifespan to that person's dog.
A dog? Jiang Zhaobai blinked and looked at the Alaskan Malamute in front of him, clearly not even a year old.
What kind of joke is this? Who added more than ten years to his life in the Book of Death?!
After agonizing over it again and again, Jiang Zhaobai finally reached out to the dog's owner: Give me a million, or I'll die alongside your dog.
The dog's handsome owner rolled his eyes, then nodded toward the empty space beside Jiang Zhaobai.
The Alaskan Malamute beside him turned with its owner's gesture, revealing the words "Guide Dog" on the side of its vest.
? Wait, you're not just a dog, you're a certified working dog?
--- A Little Scene ---
Pei Yan: Baibai, don't go. (His eyes are practically glued to the other man.)
Jiang Zhaobai: I'm going to the bathroom. (Sighs.)
Pei Yan: I'll carry you.
Jiang Zhaobai: Are you trying to die? (Cold stare.)
Pei Yan: Awooo. (The big dog lowers his head.) I just want to look at you a little longer...
A younger, high-energy, unconventional blind dog of a pursuer x an older, seemingly calm but inwardly unhinged, cold-faced recipient
Listening guide:
1. The writing style and title are completely at odds. This is definitely not a gag story! (At heart, it's a story about two people saving each other. The binding premise is just there to serve the plot, so don't read it if that's not your thing!!!)
2. The overall tone is still sweet, but it's not pure fluff, since the recipient comes from a difficult background.
3. Whether the pursuer gets better later is a spoiler, but feel free to make your own guesses as you read.
4. This is a long story, so the romance develops slowly, but there's absolutely no doubt about their feelings for each other!
5. None of the characters or events are based on real people or incidents.
Theme: Love isn't a cage that confines freedom, but a shelter that protects it
