As the director of the Institute for the Study of the "Immortal" civilization, Jiang Lin spends most of her time sitting in her office, directing her subordinates to dig holes and search for ruins.
One day, on a whim, she decides to go on a field mission herself.
Disaster! Trouble arrives sooner than tomorrow. The research vessel is attacked by an unknown force and forced to crash into the sun.
The bad news: Jiang Lin is stranded on a desolate planet with nothing but an abstract AI for company.
The good news: the dark side of the world opens its arms to her, generous and welcoming.
Well, this is rather unexpected.
And so Jiang Lin sees the following sights (in motion):
Inside the palace walls of the natives, a pale, gloomy "fruit" of an immortality elixir smiles at her through a moon gate.
Through a transparent display window, she sees a family of three diligently tending their shop. The little one helpfully guides customers through the product description: Standard Miner Breeding Module, daily consumption: three nutrient solutions, service life: 50 years, 20% off for the year-end sale!
At the very bottom of a steel city, a little girl expertly fishes a maggot-covered tentacle out of wastewater. Then she takes a bite. Delicious?
Jiang Lin goes mad. "Calling the Interstellar Federation's Enforcement Bureau! Someone's committing a crime here!"
A passerby kindly reminds her, "The Interstellar Federation you're talking about dissolved a year ago."
Helpless, Jiang Lin decides to switch careers from scientist to cleaner.
First, she'll dig some holes and bury all the old evils in them.
Then she'll find a broom and sweep stubborn rebel leaders, financial oligarchs, and imperial emperors into the trash heap of history.
Finally, she notices some aliens reaching out with ill intent beside the grand feast of the stars. Heh, let's see which little darlings you are.
The Imperial Expeditionary Force, the Void Demons, the Mechanical Calamity, and the Subspace Shadows raise their hands in a panic. "Boss, you've got it all wrong. We're your loyal subordinates!"
Jiang Lin sees them -> Jiang Lin cleans them up -> Everyone worships Jiang Lin!

1. The heroine is a mad scientist, morally chaotic and neutral.
2. This is a sci-fi mashup. The "Immortal" civilization is an ancient, technologically advanced civilization that ascended through genetic engineering. This is not a cultivation novel.
