Bestselling novelist Yan Shu hits a creative block while writing his new book, The End of the Rainy Season. In this urban romance tragedy, the male lead, Jian Wang, keeps dying during an endless rainy season. One stormy night, Yan Shu notices unfamiliar writing appearing on his manuscript by itself: "The rain you wrote about has soaked me." From then on, strange things keep happening: roses soaked by rain appear in his study, his computer continues writing the story on its own, and the line between dreams and reality gradually blurs.
Only when Jian Wang, the character from his book, tears through the pages and enters the real world does Yan Shu realize he's already trapped in a literary Mobius strip. Every tragic character he's written bears the shadow of his first love, Ji Yu. Five years ago, that boy, who loved literature as much as he did, took his own life at the end of the rainy season. As Jian Wang becomes more and more real, abnormal rainfall begins to plague the world outside, as if the whole city is about to be swallowed by the torrential rain in the novel.
Before the boundary between truth and fiction collapses completely, Yan Shu must make a choice: finish the ending destined to be tragic, or break the cycle built with his own words? When the final line is written, he finally understands the cruelest truth: every story is a love letter to the dead, and the rainy season never truly ends.
Theme: 1. Creativity and obsession: How can a writer become trapped in a prison of words by his own demons? 2. An unfinished goodbye: Using fiction to keep a dead loved one close is, in truth, an inability to accept reality. 3. The boundary between fiction and reality: When a story devours reality, do you choose to lose yourself in it or break the cycle?
Master, do you remember me? I have Jinjiang. Hey, guess who I am.
