Everyone knows that Mount Yunxiu is home to a goddess named Yun Yao. Born of heaven and earth and formed from the spiritual energy of all things, she is so revered that even the Heavenly Emperor gives her three parts respect. She protects the living creatures of Mount Yunxiu.
Yet few people know the exact location of Mount Yunxiu. Some even say that it is a paradise where everyone lives in peace and prosperity under the goddess's protection.
Then one day, a demon accidentally trespassed onto Mount Yunxiu, breaking the delicate peace.
From the day Yun Yao took human form, a voice told her that her mission was to protect all living beings and the creatures of Mount Yunxiu.
But she didn't understand. Protecting all living beings was the Heavenly Emperor's job, and he would never let her have any part in it.
As the guardian deity of Mount Yunxiu, she often heard the people's prayers and wishes. Having no emotions or desires, she couldn't understand why people were so devoted to matters of the heart.
Then she found an injured, amnesiac demon who had trespassed onto Mount Yunxiu. In keeping with the principle that all beings within Mount Yunxiu were equal, Yun Yao saved him and named him Yun Xi.
She had planned to drive him away once he had recovered, but who could have guessed that he would refuse to leave?
Looking at the person diligently cooking in the kitchen and the spotless house, Yun Yao suddenly thought that perhaps keeping him around was fine after all.
Ji Wuwang, also known as Yun Xi, was the young lord of the demon race. Suspected and feared by the Demon God, he was hunted down. He fled while wounded and collapsed on Mount Yunxiu, where the goddess Yun Yao saved him.
When he woke, he discovered he had lost his memory. Yun Yao gave him the name Yun Xi.
She told him that saving him had cost her a great deal of heavenly treasures, and that he would have to repay her with his labor. Ji Wuwang actually believed her.
As the days passed, his memories gradually returned, and suddenly he couldn't bear to leave.
Who would have thought that when he chose not to leave, Yun Yao would try to kick him out?!
