A torrential rain poured down on the mountain, making the muddy path slippery.
Yue Mingxi's foot slipped, and she tumbled into a pitch-black cave.
Soaked to the bone, her hair plastered to her face, Yue Mingxi saw a gigantic black dragon.
The dragon tilted its head, its empty eye sockets fixed on her.
Yue Mingxi felt an overwhelming pressure bearing down on her, and nearly fainted.
Then
The black dragon licked her.
Its tongue was covered in backward-facing barbs, and Yue Mingxi began to tremble.

Yue Mingxi realized that the black dragon seemed to have claimed her as its own.
No matter what she tried, or which of the tricks Wu Shanqing had taught her she used, she couldn't break through the cave's barrier.
How was she supposed to get out and find Wu Shanqing now?
You big liar. You said this trick could break countless barriers in the world.
Yue Mingxi sighed softly.
The black dragon had no idea what was troubling her. It licked her cheek, then gently nudged a bitter tree root toward her, signaling for her to eat it.
Yue Mingxi's eyes widened in shock. This dragon was even crueler than that man. It expected her to eat it raw?
At least Wu Shanqing would cook it for her.
She cursed the black dragon out for three days.
The dragon must have been fed up with her noise, because it raised both black claws high.
Yue Mingxi immediately fell silent and instinctively tried to run.
The black dragon scooped her into its embrace again.
It affectionately nudged her head, roared twice, and motioned for her to look at the ground.
Yue Mingxi lowered her head and saw the remains of the tree root, smashed to bits by the dragon's claws and mixed with dirt and green juice.
Yue Mingxi: ...
