One careless moment, and her head would be beneath a blade. She looked at the black-clad men surging into the inn and quietly edged toward the window, waiting for her chance to escape.

At the last possible moment, Xi Zhu, who'd never cared about official work, burst in and drove the black-clad men back.

His expression was fierce as he said coldly, "You think you can hurt someone from the Court of Judicial Review?"

Lin Yu was truly grateful to him. So later, when she laid a deadly trap, she coldly drove him away.

But Xi Zhu only asked in a hoarse voice, "Xiao Yu, don't you feel even the slightest reluctance to let me go?"

She kept her expression calm, her voice tinged with faint mockery. "No. You're just a sword in my hand, that's all."

[Bonus scene]

When Lin Yu's identity as a woman was exposed, she anxiously tried to negotiate with Xi Zhu, who hadn't said a word.

"It's true that I deceived you, but after all this time together, we've been through thick and thin. Even if we never see each other again, could you keep this a secret for me?"

Xi Zhu laughed in anger. "Do you think I could fall for a man?"

Then he reached out with his long arm and pulled Lin Yu into his embrace, whispering in her ear, "Never see each other again?"
