Jiang Yumian is a comic artist who has just graduated from college. After refusing her editor-in-chief's suggestion to add suggestive content, she's threatened with having her work rejected.
Though her future is uncertain and she's feeling down, she still insists on adopting a stray dog and names it Xiaohei. A few days later, she finds Xiaohei gravely injured and lying at death's door outside her apartment complex.
Panicking, she rushes it to an animal hospital for treatment and then brings it home. To her surprise, Xiaohei is already waiting obediently at home, rushing over to greet her with an enthusiastic wag of its tail.
She stops and looks at the black dog lying unconscious in the cage, thinking she must be hallucinating.

Lu Zaishuo is a dog spirit who has cultivated for many years. After earning enough merit as a police dog, he successfully took human form and retired with honors. His sharp features and excellent physique caught the eye of a talent scout, and he became a cool, top-tier star in the entertainment industry.
On his way back from filming, he was relentlessly pursued by obsessive fans, leaving him gravely injured. With his spiritual power depleted, he reverted to his original form.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Jiang Yumian names the second black dog Dahei. To find its owner, she turns the mix-up in which she brought home the wrong dog into a cute comic and posts it online.
She doesn't find the owner, but the comic attracts a huge crowd of internet users, who howl that they haven't had enough and beg her to post daily updates about Dahei and Xiaohei.
Gazing at the sudden flood of traffic and the editor-in-chief's frantic apology call, Jiang Yumian falls silent.
Ten years of drawing comics and nobody knew her. One case of bringing home the wrong dog, and the whole world does.

Lately, Jiang Yumian has noticed that Dahei is nothing like other dogs. Faced with a full bowl of dog food, it stubbornly refuses to eat a bite.
But whenever she brings out a little cake, it follows the scent over, sits there with pleading eyes, and sneaks off with most of the frosting when she's not looking.
Fuming, she can only meekly record its crimes in her comic, making her readers howl with laughter.
The Nth time Dahei steals a bite, Jiang Yumian catches it red-handed. She pinches and rubs its cheeks, gritting her teeth as she says:
"Why won't you eat dog food? Why do you keep eyeing my cake and stealing it?"
As soon as the words leave her mouth, her vision blurs. Dahei disappears, replaced by a tall, handsome, cool-looking man.
He kneels on the floor, still wearing the collar she put around his neck herself.
Lu Zaishuo's gaze is deep as he leisurely licks the remaining frosting from the corner of his mouth. The tip of his tongue brushes Jiang Yumian's fingers, leaving a damp trace.
"Sorry, I can't stomach dog food. Please be patient with me, Master."
