Personality: [Reserved, gentle, cool older woman × Highly intelligent, sweet-faced schemer]
Professions: [Memory researcher × Mechanical engineer]
When Mo Yi wakes up in a hospital bed, her memories are still stuck at the moment before she fell into a coma.
Li Xing sits beside her, crying tears of joy as she tells her that a malfunctioning robot hit her on the head, leaving her in a vegetative state in the hospital for three years.
Led by Li Xing, Mo Yi walks across pedestrian bridges, looking down at orderly streams of self-driving maglev cars and taking in the smiles on the residents' faces.
The technologically advanced nation of Misha is still peaceful and prosperous, just as it was before her coma.
Life returns to normal.
At work, the two are in different departments at the main branch of the Highest-Level Institute for the Good of the People, so they're sort of colleagues.
B-grade researcher [Mo Yi] in the Memory Restoration Department continues to study the extraction, storage, and implantation of memories, while A-grade engineer [Li Xing] in the Intelligent Mechanics Department develops advanced artificial intelligence.
After work, the two are legally married, so they feed their hamster, walk their dog, enjoy good food, and get together with friends.
Though her brain is damaged and her memory often skips, every time Mo Yi sees Li Xing's smile, she can't help marveling: How can life be so perfect and happy?
Later, while staying late in her department, Mo Yi accidentally finds a confidential file in the database. It contains her memories from three years ago.
It turns out she isn't "Mo Yi" at all.
Who is she?
[Note:]
1. This is a short, serious, idea-driven story and has no connection to my other works. It takes place in an all-female fictional world where the Y chromosome has never existed.
2. In this parallel world, all eight important characters have serious moral flaws. The story contains negative material, including important characters committing or falling victim to murder, mental breakdowns, and revenge against society. There is absolutely no sexual exploitation. Please read with caution if these topics bother you.
Statement: The characters' values do not represent the author's. The author herself advocates obeying the law and treating others with sincerity.
3. All couples in the story are switch. The main couple (Mo Yi × Li Xing) will definitely have a tragic ending. The ending for the secondary couple has not yet been decided.
4. The story is told in the third person from a semi-omniscient perspective, with the camera following Mo Yi by default. Chapters with an asterisk (*) in the title follow Li Xing.
5. The character card illustrations show them in the everyday-life setting and are for reference only.
