Bad news: I have no outline, and being stuck for so long has made writing more and more painful. I've abandoned this story ().
I've realized I don't have the writing ability to sustain a long novel. I come up with cases on the fly (late on day one: the method is...; early on day two: what was the method again?).
Feel free to use the plot ideas, since they were also inspired by things I found online.
I might revise this extensively someday (that's a once-in-a-lifetime promise, basically), so I recommend removing it from your collection.
"He's like a detective on the pitch, piecing together everyone's movements! He makes decisions as if he can see the future!"
"That's because he used to be a detective, the Sherlock Holmes of Japan's Heisei era."
"?"
The fans soon discovered that he really could solve cases. He could even defuse bombs! Wait, aren't you a soccer player?
Reporter: "Fans are curious where you learned all those skills."
Kudo: "Um... Hawaii?"
Jager, a conscientious German liqueur, took some time off from work today to watch a match.
Wait, what are they chanting?
Jager took out his phone and called someone. "When was the last time Shinichi Kudo appeared?"
"Yesterday afternoon, at the Tropical Land amusement park."
"Then why am I looking at him on the Allianz Arena pitch right now???"
From carving a path through the soccer field to putting on a deduction show in the locker room.
When soccer hooligans encounter a locked-room murder, and soccer gets tangled up in a criminal case, only a genius who can solve both offside traps and alibis can tear away the dark curtain beneath the pitch.
When the final whistle blows, the scoreboards of two worlds light up at once:
On the left, a miraculous 3:2 comeback. On the right, the dawn of the truth.
Mini-scene: The Japan Football Association stood firm against outside pressure and refused to let Kudo play in the World Cup.
Why?
A case every day, a robbery every three days, a bomb every seven days. You want to bring that sort of thing back home? Are you kidding?
Content warning: Slice of life (?) Kudo has a death-flag aura.
A feel-good coming-of-age story. There's just one painful bit early on, then nothing more. Kudo will gradually grow.
He plays soccer on the field and solves cases off it.
There might be more mystery-solving than soccer? The cases won't just be murders, and may involve organized crime or the like. And the soccer won't be only about playing: he'll make some contributions to the soccer world.
The Detective Conan world and the real world don't merge. Everyone travels back and forth between the two (with a recognition filter).
Most of the soccer and mystery-solving happens in the real-world storyline, while the Detective Conan storyline advances the main plot, but with fewer elements.
There is one Kudo and one Conan (Conan is in the Detective Conan world and will turn back later).
Ran is his childhood friend, but there is no romance (I can't write romance and I'm afraid I'll mess it up... All right, I don't write the plot very well either, and my cases aren't great either). Anyway, she's a very important friend.
In Soccer Kudo's world, the only people he knows are Shinichi, Ran, Sonoko, their parents, and their relatives.
Since I've included the parents, their abilities are a little too powerful (I can't write someone like Yusaku...), so Shinichi's parents may become more background characters later (?).
This isn't a crossover with sports anime. I'll try to keep the Japanese matches short.
Probably... not an invincible-protagonist story? You can't expect him to take on ten players alone. Shinichi is weaker in the real world (as everyone knows, characters in Japanese anime are physically enhanced, and murder-soccer would be a bit too much). Of course, he'll be stronger in the Detective Conan world (since this Shinichi specializes in soccer).
A pretend fan is doing their best to research the details.
If it doesn't match reality, it means the author is making stuff up (hey!).
He doesn't play in the J.League because Kudo is 17 in 1994, while the J.League first opened in 1993, so almost all of his early matches in Japan will be fictional.
He'll play a few matches in Japan first (with lots of invented details, and no J.League), then head to Germany through a youth soccer exchange agreement between Germany and Japan. I don't know where he'll go after that. I haven't decided yet ().
He won't play in the World Cup. The Japan Football Association would rather he never come back.
His position is either striker or defender.
Other than the characters listed above, the only fictional character who appears in the real-world story is Ray Curtis, Kudo's soccer idol in the original work. He'll save Ray's wife.
I probably won't torment the main-story characters, will I? Few of his real-world teammates or coaches will die. Mainly, some scumbags will die (fictional characters).
Some canon couples will be broken up: Akai with Akemi and with Jodie. But Akai won't be tormented, only his relationships will be changed by the butterfly effect. I probably won't break up any others. Also, Sato and Takagi are a couple, and Matsuda has no romantic feelings for Sato.
You can tell from how long my content warnings are. They're longer than the blurb. Basically, if you don't like it, leave using the top-left corner. If you insult me, all I'll do is say, "Hontoni sumimasen," and bow repeatedly.
If there are other things you'd rather avoid, tell me and I'll add them to the blurb.
I'll do my best to write Shinichi well.
Major OOC, since Kudo has gone off to play soccer.
