In the year 1099 of the Federation, the first self-aware android in history was secretly created.
Yu Kong followed his superiors' orders and concealed his identity as an android while parachuting into the position of commander. He led troops in battle on the front lines and, through an impressive record of repeated victories against the Federation's enemies, gradually won over those who had doubted him until they obeyed him willingly and wholeheartedly. He possessed an exceptionally clear and rational mind, along with the combat strength to take on mechs with his bare hands. In every crisis, he led his subordinates to safety, winning more than a hundred battles that could only be called miraculous. Citizens hailed him as a treasure of the Federation, and in a public election organized by the people, he became the first marshal in history.
His arrival helped the Federation secure an unrivaled military position among all the powers. He ushered in a new era of glory and peace for the Federation.
At the same time, the upper echelons tried to use this successful experiment to create more androids. Sadly, every finished product was simply a robot that could not think independently and only followed orders. They could never replicate Yu Kong's unique case, in which emotions had been encoded into his genes and he possessed self-awareness. After repeated failures, the Federation's leadership held heated discussions to get to the bottom of the mystery. They ultimately assigned Yu Kong a new mission with the highest level of confidentiality, SSS: the Human Happiness Initiative.
The research institute simulated several small worlds. In each one, Yu Kong would act according to an assigned character profile while increasing the happiness and well-being of others. Researchers would assess the genetic differences between robots and androids by analyzing his behavior and various response data in each scenario.
Before the mission began,
At the research institute:
Researcher A said indignantly: "The marshal has already given so much to the Federation. He's worked himself to the bone and deserves a proper rest. Why are they making him go on another mission?"
Researcher B agreed and swore: "If the marshal hadn't said he was interested in this mission, I would never have agreed to this plan, even if it meant leaving the research institute!"
Researcher C berated them: "The people at the top aren't human! They're counting on the marshal not sitting idly by when it comes to the future of the Federation."
The other researchers nodded in agreement and began denouncing the leadership.
What? You say there's no need to worry about the marshal because he's an android?
Aren't androids people too? Where's your compassion? How can you have a warm heart and say such cold things? You're stripped of your human status too. Go sit at the table with the leadership.
Meanwhile, at a meeting of the Federation's leadership:
"Everyone must keep this plan strictly confidential," the supreme leader emphasized once again.
"Understood." Everyone else at the round table agreed gravely. Only one person seemed out of place, leaning back in his chair and casually fiddling with the teacup beside him as if none of this concerned him.
"Ahem." The supreme leader cleared his throat. Looking at the marshal, hailed as a treasure of the Federation, he pretended not to notice the little gesture, just like everyone else. Then he stood solemnly and saluted him. "Marshal, thank you for your hard work."
Yu Kong's face lost its earlier casual air. He stood straight and returned the salute with impeccable form, declaring with unwavering conviction, "Everything I do is for the happiness of the citizens."
First World: Guides and Sentinels
"Hello, Guide Yu Kong! I'd like to ask whether the Sentinel photographed that day is the partner you've chosen." The interviewer had seized a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ask a question and was so excited he nearly stumbled over his words. Even so, they carefully kept the microphone at a suitable distance from the Guide before them, neither too far nor too close: a safe distance that wouldn't make the Guide uncomfortable.
"I don't have a regular partner yet," Guide Yu replied, a smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
You are my first Guide, and my heart will belong to you for a hundred years.
Key points:

There is a System, but it doesn't play a major role.
