A Qing-Dynasty Tale: The Restless Ninth Imperial Princess

Luo Qi thinks these Manchus are ridiculous. They were the ones who won in the end, yet they choose to bind themselves by the rules of the defeated.

Luo Qi never followed the rules in her previous life, so there's no way she's going to become more conventional after getting a second life, even if she has transmigrated to the Qing Dynasty.

She still eats what she wants and does what she likes. She even follows her clansmen when they leave the capital for official posts, traveling all over the place with them.

Everyone in the capital knows that the Donggo clan has an unruly young lady, and they all wait to see which family she will marry into, laughing at her and the Donggo clan alike.

Then an imperial edict grants Donggo Luo Qi in marriage to the Ninth Prince, and everyone suddenly stops laughing.

After accepting the edict, Luo Qi demands an explanation from her mother. "Didn't you say that since my cousin married into the imperial family, no other Donggo girl would be promised to a prince? What's going on?"

Her mother says, "That's usually how it works, but the Ninth Prince personally asked for your hand. He's not one to play by the rules."

Her father says, "Once you're part of the imperial family, you'd better at least pretend to be virtuous and proper."

As if. Who can keep up an act for a lifetime? She certainly can't.

Luo Qi says, "I'll live at my own pace. Whatever happens, happens."

P.S. A spirited woman takes on all kinds of outdated customs.
