Chi Yang didn't rush to reveal who he was. Instead, he went against Shen Shaowei every day.

There was a stubbornness in the Beta's gaze that was easy to miss. His dark eyes stared at Shen Shaowei fearlessly. Looking back, Shen Shaowei felt that the other man seemed to hate him a little.

Every day, the other man sat there looking frail and telling everyone what to do, yet everything he said made perfect sense.

Chi Yang had his feet curled up on a little stool, twirling his pen into all sorts of tricks. Even with low blood sugar, he was still grinning as he said, "Sorry, Commander Shen. I've rejected your plan."

Having his battle plan rejected made Shen Shaowei's disorder flare up. He wanted to drag the man outside and beat him, wanted to yell at him...

But the moment he saw that pale face, so like the person in his dreams, his anger died down.

Only much later, when the stubborn man insisted he was fine and then fainted into his arms the very next second, did Shen Shaowei finally come to his senses. What he felt was a long-forgotten flutter of the heart.

It was pure white and terribly thin, but its eyes were bright.

Xu Guiyi's heart stirred, and he brought it home to save it.

From then on, a white tiger became part of his life. The tiger was absurdly clingy. It slept with Xu Guiyi every night and followed him to the antique shop during the day. It wanted to go everywhere with him.

Everyone who saw it asked him, "Such a spirited white tiger. What's its name?"

Xu Guiyi named the tiger Chi Gui.

But Chi Gui still left.

Three years later, someone knocked on the shop door in the quiet afternoon.

"Boss, are you hiring?" A low, casual voice reached his ears.

For a moment, Xu Guiyi's eyes showed no recognition. Then his voice quickly turned cool again. "You're in this bad shape. Why aren't you at the hospital?"

Chi Wulin leaned against the doorframe and tilted his head slightly to look at him, a faint smile in his eyes. "I'm afraid someone won't want me, so I'd better find a place to land."

"Just give me room and board." He took half a step forward and lowered his head until his gaze was level with Xu Guiyi's. His voice was soft and unhurried. "The boss can decide my salary. I'm easy to take care of."

The copper bell beneath the eaves stirred in the breeze, ringing softly.

One summer night, Chi Wulin stood at the entrance to his home. His black eyes were cold enough to make anyone shudder. Look closely, and it seemed he was holding a cat in his arms. His movements were gentle, the complete opposite of his expression.

"Let's see who has the nerve to bother my beloved cat."

As soon as he finished speaking, Chi Wulin's gaze seemed to stick to the cat as he reached out to tease its upright little ear.

"There, there. Ignore them."

P.S.:

1. The cat and the white tiger are the top and bottom's spirit forms. They don't affect that sort of thing.

2. There is a scene where the one who died in battle turns back into his original form.

3. The actual blurb and title may change somewhat when the story begins.
