The blurb is misleading: this is actually a comedy, with terrible jokes sprinkled in from time to time. Humor and catharsis go hand in hand. The author rambles a lot, and the pacing is extremely slow. A chapter may contain a lot of introspection, so please don't read if that's not your thing. 2. A coming-of-age story, but one where the growth happens very quickly. 3. Jump-style friendship. Straight guys don't mince their words. 4. Multiple storylines run in parallel, so there are plot holes where the protagonist attends several schools at once. Everyone is a high school student. Please don't read if that bothers you. 5. Recommended to read alongside the author's notes, which serve as a guidebook. Theme: Hard work lets you climb higher.
