Look at this hotheaded reporter top. He's ambitious, but poor and unemployed!
Wow, that charlatan bottom spouts nothing but nonsense, yet believes in materialism.
On the night the newsroom shut down, investigative reporter Chi Yongchang received the news that his informant had died by suicide.
Following the chat history the informant left behind, he knocked on the shop door of the number one suspect: Yuan Xiao, a beautiful, clever shopkeeper who called himself an "expert in the occult." Yuan Xiao was an obvious professional con artist, a liar through and through.
To uncover the real reason behind the informant's suicide and expose the con artist for what he was, Chi Yongchang forced his way into Yuan Xiao's shop with all his belongings.
Little Yuan: Oh my, Reporter Chi, if you're this rough, how am I supposed to do business?
Reporter Chi: If you have nothing to hide, you don't fear ghosts knocking at your door. Boss Yuan, do you have some shady business going on?
Little Yuan: Then all I can do is wait eagerly for you to clear my name and prove my innocence, Reporter Chi~
Reporter Chi: What the hell? How is this smiling devil impervious to everything...?
Yuan Xiao has three kinds of business cards. One says "Counselor." Another says "Fortune-telling, dream interpretation, and divination, drawing on a century-old family tradition combining East and West." The third says "Private Detective."
The local beat cop says he's handsome but doesn't do anything useful, and suggests he could volunteer if he's really that bored. The woman at the community service office says he's proper, gentle, and upstanding, but she has no idea where he gets all that money in his pocket. Yuan Xiao smiles, while inwardly he keeps mapping out a vast, intricate information network.
Little Yuan: Hey, Reporter Chi, if I die, do you want me to leave you this shop?
Reporter Chi: Boss Yuan, come help me meet the minimum delivery amount for takeout, what kind of nonsense are you saying? Why would I want your lousy shop? The place isn't worth a thing!
Little Yuan: I just think you're so poor. I wanted to look out for you before I go. Good deeds deserve a reward, after all.
Reporter Chi: First, this is a society ruled by law. Second, I'm right here. Who would dare lay a hand on you?
"My ideals are very simple: justice will prevail over evil, and dawn will follow the dark of night."
"I'll be back. At a time like this, just think of it as one last time I'm deceiving you, okay?"
