On a rainy night, forensic examiner Lin Qiu finds an unconscious boy who looks exactly like he did when he was young, right down to the identical birthmark on his wrist. As a string of murders unfolds, a mysterious organization known as "Dragonfly" emerges from the shadows. Lin Qiu's strange monthly blackouts on the twentieth, along with his extraordinary ability to heal, both point to a biological experiment buried twenty years ago.
When a trap disguised as an ordinary kidnapping is sprung, and a clone in a cultivation tank opens his eyes, these lovers, "born of the same source but from different times," finally realize that they are both the experiment's last hope and each other's only weakness.

"Do you know why I named you Bu Fu? You don't have to carry everything anymore, and the world won't let you down again."
"You copied yesterday's version of me."
"Can we buy matching rings now?"
"All along, the one who took the lead and healed the other was never Lin Qiu."
"You could never say things like 'I want a home' or 'I want lots and lots of love,' but that's okay. With me here, you don't have to force yourself to be honest. You don't have to ask for a home or love; I'll give them to you anyway, for the rest of my life."
