Earth was a thing of the past. The humans here were descended from ancient Earthlings, and over thousands of years, they had evolved into six sexes. Alto was now an Alpha, and he had an Omega fiance who had also lost his memory.

This fiance looked exactly like Mervyn Igna, the actor Alto used to like.

In the first twenty-two years of his life, Alto had only two important people: Mervyn, an actor who had left show business years ago, and "Mr. Citrus," a friend he had met online. But this Omega Mervyn seemed to combine their traits. His appearance and gentle personality resembled the actor Mervyn, while the cheerful tone of his messages and some of his behavior were just like his friend "Mr. Citrus."

How incredibly similar they were left Alto conflicted and confused. He thought it was disrespectful to treat anyone as a substitute, so he didn't want to offend the Mervyn of this world. He told himself that he was just missing his life on Earth so much that he was imagining the resemblance. Shaking his head to put those similarities out of mind, he focused on getting along with Mervyn as he searched for a way back to Earth.

But feelings could strike without warning. One day, Alto realized that he had truly fallen in love with the Mervyn of this world. He no longer wanted to return to Earth, but the thought of having transmigrated made him feel as though he were an intruder who had taken over someone else's life.

I am Alto Smith, not Alto Safian, the Alpha of this world.
