Xu Wenqiu was a corporate drone. After working hard for years, he had barely made any money and had only accumulated a slew of health problems. Feeling his heart pounding incessantly, he finally made up his mind to quit and return to his hometown, a small mountain village, where he planned to lie flat and spend his days farming.
But the small, peaceful village he remembered had some strange things going on. First, a blue bird showed up with a round egg in its beak and told him it was his future husband.
Then a number of unusual visitors came to the village: a young version of the Queen Mother of the West, drifting with immortal grace but fond of sweets; Yinglong, who looked like a cold, hard man but secretly loved watching ridiculous dramas; and all kinds of fluffy spirit beasts.
With so many extra mouths to feed, Xu Wenqiu could only grip his hoe and work hard in the fields. But these divine beasts couldn't just eat and drink for free, so he put them all to work farming.
So Xu Wenqiu's farm got a solar power system courtesy of the Golden Crow, a rainmaker courtesy of Yinglong, and a weed trimmer courtesy of Hanba...
Xu Wenqiu inherited a mountain and an egg. After carefully incubating it, he raised a shimmering golden bird. Its whole body was covered in downy fluff, and its little black-bean eyes were so cute that Xu Wenqiu's heart nearly melted. Unable to resist, he kept petting and cuddling it.
That night, he dreamed of a shy young man accusing him of being too rough. The young man was exceptionally beautiful, and perhaps it was just his imagination, but his expressions and gestures were exactly like those of the bird he had raised.
Later, the grown man pinned Xu Wenqiu against the wall and leaned in, bracing one hand beside him. "Humans say yin and yang should be in harmony, and three is a yang number. You're yin and I'm yang, so naturally you should have me inside you, and I should have you inside me."
Xu Wenqiu looked at the firm abs before him, swallowed, and pointed to the farm outside. "Have the watermelons gotten enough sunlight? Have you fertilized the corn? What kind of dirty talk is that?"

1. Many mythological figures have been reimagined, so please don't nitpick the details.
2. The bottom is the spirit of the Fusang Tree, so the top believes what he said is the truth, not dirty talk (proud face).
