Even as a Ghost, Should I Still Love You?

Former puppy / brash young man turned abandoned dog / dark-hearted young swordsman gong × carefree / straight / rough-around-the-edges / overthinks everything great hero shou

The great hero Chu Kuangyue, known throughout the martial world as the Soul-Locking Claw of the Mad Blade, died a tragic death protecting the fledgling young swordsman Shen Monian.

After death, he dutifully worked in the Underworld for four years. At last, when his turn came to be reincarnated, he had barely stepped into the Hall of Yama when he was told that he harbored a powerful obsession in the human world. Unless it faded, he couldn't be reborn.

Chu Kuangyue: ?

Returning to the human world as a ghost, he decided to find out who was so obsessed with him:

He drifted around like a headless fly, then finally figured out who was behind the obsession: the little brat he'd saved...

The great hero followed the young swordsman, hoping to dispel his obsession, only to watch him gather all kinds of rare treasures just to bring Chu Kuangyue back to life.

Chu Kuangyue, who had always taken life and death in stride, couldn't help getting goosebumps.

[Let's just say I owe him.]

Chu Kuangyue, in his ghostly form, began secretly protecting Shen Monian.

A bandit wants to kill and rob him? Haunt him until he dies of fright!

A scoundrel wants to steal his opportunities? Turn into a nightmare and control him!

A fox spirit wants to steal his essence? Cause a commotion and warn her off!

But how does this young swordsman keep looking straight at where he is? Didn't they say people couldn't see ghosts?!

Why does he feel like a snake is watching him...

At last, Shen Monian collected all the materials and prepared to sacrifice himself to the spell:

"Uncle Kuangyue, are you still unwilling to show yourself to me?"

Chu Kuangyue rubbed his forehead.

He wanted to, too, but right now, he was just a lonely wandering ghost.

Unexpectedly, Shen Monian's spell failed, and he nearly succumbed to demonic corruption. But he accidentally awakened Yin-Yang Eyes, allowing him to see the ghosts and monsters of the human world and speak with them.

The little brat then threw caution to the wind and broke into the Underworld to strike a deal with the King of Hell.

The King's terms were simple: if Shen Monian caught evil spirits and accumulated merit, he would help him bring Chu Kuangyue back to life.

Shen Monian got straight to work, hunting demons and slaying ghosts alongside his Uncle Kuangyue, while taking the opportunity to nurture their relationship.

But why was his body becoming more and more transparent...

When Chu Kuangyue learned the price of having a living person catch ghosts, he was furious enough to curse:

"Come on, brat! We're not doing this anymore! Worst case, we both die! We'll still be heroes when we're reincarnated!"

Shen Monian, now translucent, looked at Chu Kuangyue's large hand holding his and smiled.

As long as Uncle Kuangyue stayed by his side, he wouldn't be afraid, even if it meant dying.
