After Jiang Ye was laid off, his friend called him. First she complained about her inhuman boss, then tearfully begged him to look after her elderly cat, which had just been discharged from the hospital.
"Just three days! I'll pick him up as soon as I'm back from my business trip. I'm really not comfortable leaving him at a pet hotel..."
The cat was truly old, with thinning fur and cloudy eyes. He spent most of his time lying quietly in his bed, neither meowing nor running around.
Jiang Ye had loved animals since he was little. Since he wasn't going to find a job anytime soon, he readily agreed.
Besides, the cat wasn't as much trouble as his owner had made him out to be. Jiang Ye only needed to soften his kibble with hot water and scoop the litter once a day.
There were no accidents or vomiting, and he wasn't picky about food. By the second day, the old cat was even ambling over to rub his head against Jiang Ye's leg.
When Jiang Ye's friend returned from her business trip and rushed straight to his home, she was stunned by the sight of the man and cat getting along so well.
More importantly, why didn't her cat look sickly anymore?
Jiang Ye: Huh? I didn't do anything. I just fed him the cat food and treats you brought over every day...?
His friend didn't say much. She simply soon introduced him to another pet who needed looking after, a West Highland White Terrier that had just undergone surgery.
Jiang Ye didn't turn down the chance to earn some extra money on the side, and he soon discovered that he seemed to have some strange ability that could give pets an endless supply of energy.
Jiang Ye pondered. Jiang Ye had an epiphany. Jiang Ye slapped his thigh and decided to start a business.
Before long, the sign for Xiao Jiang's Pet Sitting Service was up.
Though most of the animals it attracted didn't seem to be the kind of pets he'd expected.
A plump, goofy pigeon.
An exceptionally clever gecko.
A... dog? Wolf? With strange markings?
Wait, that has to be a tiger, right? Even if it's small, it's still a tiger, right?!

All kinds of pets came and went, but not one of them belonged to Jiang Ye, until one night he found a huge, blood-covered Maine Coon.
The cat didn't look like a stray, but after he posted a missing-cat notice and got no response for ten days or more, Jiang Ye tearfully announced: He was no longer a wild man without a cat!
Wait, who are you? Where's my cat? Handsome, have you seen my cat...?
A seemingly aloof, domineering, taciturn loner who is actually a clingy, jealous, hopeless romantic Maine Coon gong x a seemingly insecure, timid, and cowardly shou who is actually resilient and independent, and a sunny animal lover
