Marry first, love later / university professor x actress
Before the blind date, Xiao Ran's mother reminds her again and again that Shao Zhiheng comes from a family of scholars and dislikes anything vulgar.
At their first meeting, Xiao Ran wears an ostrich-feather dress so extravagant that the people around them mistake her for an ostrich.
Shao Zhiheng leaves her with a parting shot: "Miss Xiao, next time, maybe don't leave the house wearing a feather duster."
Xiao Ran isn't offended. She's delighted. "Mr. Shao, I know a good doctor who specializes in treating facial paralysis. Would you like me to introduce you?"
Xiao Ran is absolutely certain there's no chance they'll get married.
Then, not long after, she gets the news that Shao Zhiheng wants to marry her.
It must be revenge.
Before the wedding, Xiao Ran lays down three rules. First, he can't interfere with her work. Second, he can't expect her to be a virtuous wife. Third, they must sleep in separate rooms after the wedding.
Shao Zhiheng agrees without batting an eye. He does a great job with the first two.
As for the third...
Shao Zhiheng lowers his head, his nose brushing Xiao Ran's earlobe. "Sorry. We're married, and I'm no saint."
Xiao Ran blushes. "But you can't... You can't do it three times a day."
Shao Zhiheng's first twenty-odd years had gone smoothly. He'd never stumbled over anyone, but Xiao Ran was the exception.
Outsiders all say Professor Shao is gentle and refined, a perfect gentleman. So why did he marry a free-spirited, willful little actress like Xiao Ran?
Everyone thinks their marriage is a ridiculous joke, but no one expects that the joke will last a lifetime.
Getting married? There's plenty of time to wear each other down.
Married life / warm and cozy / guaranteed sweetness / very little showbiz
