My Cool Rival Flirts with Me in Public and Teases Me in Secret

Ever since her debut, Xi Yihan has had a knack for attracting hate. Nine out of ten trending topics about her are full of people cursing her.

The worst offenders are the fans of Su Baixi, the rival popular actress.

As luck would have it, Su Baixi had barely announced her endorsement deal for a brand's Asian market when Xi Yihan became the face of one of its products.

Su Baixi had just announced she would star as the female lead in a well-known screenwriter's project when Xi Yihan landed the role of the third female lead in the same screenwriter's show.

Su Baixi's fans cursed her out: "Xi YH has no shame. She rides Big Sister's coattails every time. Can she not live without sticking close to her?"

Xi Yihan sprang up like a carp. "Watch your mouth!"

Later, a hater claimed that Xi Yihan had dumped Su Baixi, which was why they were at odds.

The video was edited so convincingly that Xi Yihan almost believed it herself.

From then on, the public mood shifted, and a bizarre group of shippers appeared.

The two attended the same event on the same day, three hours apart,

but their footage was edited to make it look like they were in the same frame. Text supplied all the love and hate.

A prominent fanfic writer emerged from their tiny fan circle. She followed the stars offline and wrote stories online. With a little embellishment, the "XiXi CP" was born, and unsuspecting readers became utterly obsessed.

Readers were deeply moved by this couple, who clashed by day and frantically made love-hate content at night.

Their fanbase grew and grew, eventually surpassing Xi Yihan's own number of fans.

Then one day, the media reported that Xi Yihan had a chaotic private life,

and had taken seven women to hotels for sex in one week.

The prominent fanfic writer also posted a furious rant: Someone so indecent didn't deserve to be with Su Baixi!

Xi Yihan was at a loss for words. Around the corner, she ran into Su Baixi, who had just wrapped filming.

Su Baixi, cool and composed, asked gently, "I heard you cheated on me?"

Xi Yihan smiled wryly and immediately went live to clear things up. Su Baixi graciously sat beside her.

The misunderstanding was resolved, the rumors were dispelled, and Xi Yihan was about to end the livestream.

Just then, Su Baixi took her hand and said with absolute conviction that she believed Xi Yihan.

Xi Yihan stared at that hand, her brain short-circuiting.

"Wait, isn't this basically a public relationship announcement?!"
