Please Stop Pretending

Ever since players invaded the world of ghosts and monsters, Bali Li has lived in constant fear.

The players, armed with their items, are all mighty and formidable. The monsters, leveling up into bosses, are all vicious and terrifying. And as a weak little monster, Bali Li is scared.

"No! I can't just accept my fate!"

Bali Li clenches her fist, turns around, and finds herself a powerful backer.

A player, a man who is powerful, upright, gentle, and tolerant: Lu Danxi.

-

Lu Danxi is a really good person who takes wonderful care of weak little Bali Li.

When players look down on Bali Li, he's the first to step in and defend her.

When monsters hunt her, he always stands in front of her.

Even when Bali Li is clumsy and can't do anything right, he never complains.

The thing Lu Danxi says to Bali Li most often is: "Don't be afraid. I'm here."

It's so touching.

If not for the reproductive barrier, Bali Li would fall in love with him.

-

Bali Li falls in love with Lu Danxi anyway.

No one could help falling for someone who would die for you.

"Waaah!" Bali Li sobs as if her heart is breaking, clinging tightly to Lu Danxi, who's covered in blood. "It's all my fault. I'm too weak..."

Lu Danxi gathers her into his arms and says fondly, "Silly. It's not your fault. Human lives are just too fragile."

Bali Li is even sadder. "If only you weren't human! Waaah!"

Lu Danxi sighs. "Too bad I'm just an ordinary human..."

Amid a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood, the two embrace and weep.

"Oh, come on!"

The monsters around them, their guts spilled and limbs severed, finally can't take it anymore. They force themselves back to their feet and curse them out.

"What the hell, you're not even human to begin with! Have you ever seen a human with wings?!"

"And you! How are you weak?! You're the one who gave us all these injuries!"

"Stop getting so into character, you freak!"

A few notes:

1. Couple: A demon king who always thinks she's weak x a fallen angel who insists he's human.

2. A monster mash, East and West both welcome.

Premise: Live well, and be a good person.
