Li Xue is an unaffiliated cultivator with low cultivation and a muddled spiritual root.
By all rights, she should have been just another ant, struggling to make her way through the vast world of cultivation until her lifespan ran out and she faded away, becoming spiritual energy between heaven and earth.
But Li Xue refused to accept her fate.
She changed her spiritual root, captured demon beasts, seized treasures, and fought demonic cultivators.
With every step bought in blood, she became a mighty cultivator in her own right.
From then on, everyone who met Li Xue respectfully addressed her as Venerable.
Above the azure clouds, her future was boundless.
After enduring hardship for so long, Li Xue only realized how comfortable life could be once she had risen above everyone else.
And her nemesis, Yun Xianqing, had been living that way for a very, very long time.
At that point, Li Xue thought that for the next several thousand years, and even after ascending, she would never again have anything to do with Yun Xianqing.
*
When she emerged from the secret realm, that woman stood at the edge of a distant mountain, dressed in white as pristine as snow, her black hair cascading down her back. Moonlight bathed her, yet she was colder than the moon itself.
If anyone could become an immortal, surely they would look just like that.
Li Xue was stunned.
She parted her lips, wanting to say something, and at that very moment Yun Xianqing looked over
"I've come to take your life."
After all those years apart, Yun Xianqing's very first words were a death threat.
*
Yun Xianqing had spent her entire life living for her sect.
But after she betrayed the Shenqing Sect, she became someone everyone wanted to hunt down.
No matter how badly Yun Xianqing was wounded, she always protected the sword in her arms.
Until one day, someone heard that sword speak.
Through gritted teeth, it said, "Yun Xianqing, you killed me, but now you're letting some nobody walk all over you. Have you no shame? I still have some!"
Yun Xianqing smiled and wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth. In a low voice, she said, "So it's you, Li Xue."
Only the heavens knew how long Yun Xianqing had waited for this day.
