Snuggling Up to a Big Shot from a Period Novel and Lying Flat to Win

Period setting | Past and present lives | Tough guy | Size difference | She pursues him | Sweet romance | Long-planned love | Both leads are each other's first and only

Zhou Mu, the feared menace whom everyone in the surrounding villages avoided, got married. His bride was Jiang Zhi, the timid girl from the Jiang family who looked as if she wouldn't live long.

When word got around, everyone from one end of the village to the other clicked their tongues and sighed in sympathy.

"She just got out of the tiger's den and landed in the wolf's lair. What a tragedy..."

Jiang Zhi rubbed her chin, secretly wondering: Is this man really that scary? Maybe I should run away in advance?

But then she reconsidered. She wouldn't have in-laws to wait on, her husband was capable and knew how to make money, and most importantly... his face was exactly her type.

Maybe she should give it a try first?

Zhou Mu was alone, untamed, and wild. He could punch a wild boar to death with his bare hands, and had never known the meaning of tenderness.

He furrowed his brow and told his new bride bluntly, "This marriage is only a temporary arrangement. Don't... get the wrong idea."

On the night they consummated their marriage, the man's body was burning hot, and he seemed to have lost control, never satisfied.

Just as he moved toward her again, Jiang Zhi's eyes filled with tears. She kicked his solid chest and cried, her voice trembling, "Get away!"

But the man grabbed her slender ankle. His thumb stroked her cool skin as he panted heavily and whispered again and again, "Wife... wife..."

Jiang Zhi bit her lower lip and glared at him with red-rimmed eyes. "Who was it that swore this was only a temporary arrangement?"

Zhou Mu's gaze turned dark. Without hesitation, he moved close to her again, his voice so hoarse it was almost unrecognizable. "Wife... I've changed my mind."

Jiang Zhi smiled slyly and leaned in slightly, breathing warm air into the man's ear. "Me? I never get the wrong idea..."

The man's rugged features instantly tensed.

Her teasing fingertips touched his sharply defined jaw and slid slowly down, loosening his coarse cotton shirt.

A vicious old scar stretched across the man's broad, clearly defined, sun-bronzed chest.

Jiang Zhi froze. Disbelief filled her tear-bright eyes, and when she looked up, her voice trembled.

"Zhou Mu... is it you?!"

A trace of panic flashed in the man's eyes. He hurriedly covered his chest, his voice low and hoarse. "It's ugly. Don't look."

"It's you..." Tears spilled from her eyes. Her fingers trembled as she clutched his arm, and she sobbed uncontrollably.

Memories surged back like a tide. The boy, covered in blood but gritting his teeth as he carried her step by step through the pitch-black mountains, was now one and the same with the man before her.

"Why..." Tears ran silently down her face. "Why didn't you tell me?"
