Pining for My Lord for Thirty Years

In his previous life, after Tan Chi learned that Xiao Qingzhuo had taken a male consort, he bitterly regretted not being bold enough or decisive enough to seize the chance to offer himself to his lord. Even when he later heard that the male consort was only a way for the emperor to humiliate Xiao Qingzhuo, he still couldn't let go of the idea.

He was determined to become his lord's bedfellow!

Then he died in battle. When he opened his eyes again, he was back at the time he'd just joined his lord's camp and become a company commander. At this point, Xiao Qingzhuo had yet to become powerful enough to threaten the throne, and was still the Marquis of Wuning.

Tan Chi decided to steal his lord away, and to make sure his lord saw the emperor's true colors before he could become a bridge discarded after the river was crossed, or a donkey killed once the millstone was ground.

Thirty years was long enough. It was time to make his dream come true!

The trouble is, when you tell enough lies, you eventually run into a ghost. Once this deception got underway, he could never find his way back. Every day, he lived in terror that Xiao Qingzhuo would see through him. But paper can't contain a fire forever, and the very thing he feared most finally happened.

Xiao Qingzhuo: "...Get on your knees and explain. Tell one more lie, and I'll slap you."

Tan Chi's eyes darted about. Confessing honestly was out of the question. Let me think, what else can I make up?
