But as time went on, things felt increasingly wrong.
Pei Qingzhao had thought he was raking in a fortune, but to his surprise, his purse kept getting lighter.
Meanwhile, the common people grew ever wealthier and heavier, and the streets filled with chubby children.
Pei Qingzhao looked perplexed. "I've clearly been working so hard. Where did things go wrong?"
Xiao Hechuan, who had been secretly keeping an eye on him all along, leaned in and wrapped an arm around Pei Qingzhao's slender waist. He whispered seductively, "I can tell you where things went wrong..."
Xiao Hechuan had once been a young prince who willingly went to the State of Wei as a hostage in exchange for his elder brother's reign being secure.
