Gregory House, the eccentric diagnostician at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, has long suffered from leg pain and grown weary of life. By chance, a family member of a patient he once treated tells him about a groundbreaking gene therapy called the T-Virus. Led by the young and ambitious bioengineer Dr. Emily Carter, the treatment can effectively promote muscle regeneration. Desperate to escape his pain, House barges into Emily's private laboratory and demands to join the research, which is still classified.
