In high school, Jiang Jinyu was a gentle, reserved good girl, while Zhu Qingyang was a free-spirited, flamboyant favored son of Heaven.

Their names never appeared together in the gossip among their classmates.

Until one day, a message went viral in the gossip group: Zhu Qingyang dumped Jiang Jinyu.

Everyone was surprised, then sighed over how two parallel lines could ever have crossed.

Years later, at a class reunion, everyone drew lots to form teams for a three-legged race.

Zhu Qingyang arrived late, and Jiang Jinyu was the odd one out. The two ended up on the same team.

Everyone exchanged glances and stared at them curiously.

Neither of them seemed to mind. Instead, they linked arms without hesitation and started forward.

Out of sight of the others, Jiang Jinyu and Zhu Qingyang felt each other's warmth through their clothes, but their movements grew more and more stiff. Before long, they lost their rhythm and the race.

In an empty corner, Zhu Qingyang moved closer to Jiang Jinyu step by step and caught her wrist. A barely perceptible blush touched his face, though he still looked casual as he asked:

"So what are we, if we kissed? Are you going to make it official?"

To everyone around them, it was an established fact that Zhu Qingyang had dumped Jiang Jinyu.

Only Zhu Qingyang knew how resolute Jiang Jinyu had been on the day they broke up.

The usually defiant, untamable Zhu Qingyang softened his voice and cautiously asked:

"Why?"

Jiang Jinyu's expression was calm. She spoke as if she didn't care at all:

"They all say sun showers don't last long, and can't go on forever."

"Then let's be stars in the night sky, drawn to each other and never apart."
