[Full manuscript completed]
Yu Jin is a miserable wage slave who loves reading transmigration-into-a-book novels, but that doesn't mean she wants to transmigrate into a book herself, especially not Journey to the West!
If she had to transmigrate, fine, but she even became a koi fish...
The only upside is that she's now a little koi on the government payroll.
The government has assigned her to accompany the four pilgrims on their journey to obtain the scriptures.
Yu Jin: I eat off the government payroll, so fine.
She originally planned to lie flat as a background character, follow the pilgrims on their journey, coast along, and make it back to reality without a hitch.
Then Heaven played a huge joke on her: her thoughts were being "broadcast."
Everyone could hear what she was thinking!
From then on, the world seemed to change:
--
Sun Wukong: She actually called me her idol in her thoughts? What's that supposed to mean? And she wants to tug on my ears?
Tang Sanzang: Benefactor Yu curses me eight hundred times a day in her thoughts, but still hands me vegetarian buns. Amitabha Buddha, how touching.
Zhu Bajie: She called me cute! But what's a piggy ornament? Is she going to hang Old Pig on herself?
Sha Wujing: So she noticed me after all... I'm crying.
Even the demons couldn't help wanting to be nice to her:
White Bone Spirit: She actually called me a beauty with a bony figure in her thoughts. How interesting. I kind of want to take her home and chat.
Spider Demon: Wow, she said I'm fashionable. I don't know what fashionable means, but she complimented my clothes. I'll weave her a golden silk dress!
So on their journey to obtain the scriptures, the demons found Yu Jin more tempting than the promise that eating Tang Sanzang's flesh would grant immortality. They stopped hunting Tang Sanzang and started hunting Yu Jin instead.
Yu Jin clutched her head and wailed, "Please stop reading my mind! There's really nothing good in there!"
[A note for readers]
1. The romance develops slowly, with a slice-of-life focus, lots of original worldbuilding, and a heavily reworked plot.
2. The pairing is with Monkey King.
