Synopsis
Shen Yu transmigrates to ancient times and becomes a scheming, treacherous minister-in-training who is destined to usurp the throne.
One moment, the original owner of his body is wreaking havoc in court. The next, Shen Yu has arrived, staring at the emperor on the throne, the one who will one day have him cut into a thousand pieces. Shen Yu feels his heart seize up.
He tries to turn back before it's too late, but just then the emperor suddenly smiles coldly. "Your Majesty's humble servant speaks the truth."
Shen Yu's scalp goes numb. "I'm doomed."
With room to salvage the situation, Shen Yu decides he can still save himself.
Powerful ministers in history don't always meet good ends, but most corrupt officials live very comfortably.
To become a successful corrupt official, you need only master three things: a silver tongue, obedience, and good instincts.
First: "Your Majesty is wise and mighty!"
Second: "May Your Majesty reign for ten thousand years!"
Third: "Everything Your Majesty says is right!"
But after unleashing this whole routine, Shen Yu still fails.
The plot is too powerful. Somehow, he still ends up holding sway over the entire court.
Being a powerful minister is no easy job. There are no days off, all 365 days of the year. Shen Yu is busy from dawn to dusk every day, until he finally can't take it anymore. He slams the memorial in his hand onto the table and curses, "Do I really have to be this powerful minister?"
When Zhao Qinghan ascends the throne, the court is in turmoil and power has fallen into other hands.
One day, at morning court, he looks at the regent appointed by the late emperor and suddenly sees a line of text in his mind:
"In Jingchu Year Three, Grand Marshal Shen Yu will hold sway over the court and seize the throne."
Zhao Qinghan's gaze turns dark. He immediately decides where he will bury Shen Yu's remains.
The problem is, whenever he thinks of killing or demoting Shen Yu, Zhao Qinghan is overcome by a splitting headache, as if he would rather die.
All he can do is silently tell himself: Submit for now, settle the score after autumn.
Zhao Qinghan laughs coldly and rubs his forehead. "Your Majesty's humble servant speaks the truth."
Shen Yu ranks among the Three Excellencies, second only to the emperor. He reforms the government and changes the laws, helping Zhao Qinghan usher in a golden age of peace and prosperity.
In the eyes of others, Shen Yu is the emperor's sword, a minister at his side, a hero who pacifies a chaotic age, and a treacherous official who undermines imperial power.
Throughout their journey, he has helped a worthy ruler rise to power and stand tall in the halls of government. Shen Yu is proud to have played his part.
He thought he could retire with his work done, until one day, while helping the emperor review memorials, Shen Yu suddenly feels a pair of arms wrap around his waist.
Shen Yu: "...?"
Did anyone mention a side gig sharing the emperor's bed when he transmigrated?
A frail, overworked bottom who frets over survival early on and his career later.
An emperor top who works hard to grow up and train his teacher into a powerful minister.
A powder keg x a fire extinguisher. Both leads grow over time, and neither is perfect.
The plot comes first. Fictional dynasty, entirely original worldbuilding, 1v1 happy ending. An unconventional transmigration: the bottom transmigrates, the top is reborn, has no memories at first, and regains them later. All the buffs are stacked.
They start as a bickering couple on opposing sides and become inseparable partners.
Theme: This golden age belongs to both you and me.
