Jingu Sen was a one-of-a-kind acting prodigy. At the age of twenty-four, he retired from acting after his boyfriend died.
After retiring, Jingu Sen settled in his boyfriend's hometown. Within a few years, he kept receiving news that his boyfriend's former colleagues had died in the line of duty.
When Jingu Sen went to the cemetery to pay his respects as a family member, he found a rare black Ragdoll cat beside his boyfriend's grave.
The Ragdoll had a pair of blue-green eyes that shone whenever it looked at someone. Jingu Sen couldn't resist bringing it home.
The Ragdoll was affectionate with people, but a little temperamental with anyone besides Jingu Sen. It wouldn't let anyone but him touch its head.
It was a brave, clever, and slightly chatty kitten. Though still young, it would bravely hiss at a Tosa Inu much larger than itself, remind Jingu Sen to eat and take his medicine on time, and turn into a little raspy-voiced chatterbox, meowing away whenever Jingu Sen was sad.
Whenever that happened, Jingu Sen would forget his sadness and say with amused exasperation, "It sounds like you're scolding me."
The little Ragdoll would toss its head haughtily, then nimbly climb up the cat tree to patrol its territory.
After the little Ragdoll came to live with him, a handsome German Shepherd puppy, a sweet-talking African grey parrot, and a gentle but strong-willed Shiba Inu puppy gradually joined the household.
The four little animals took to each other at first sight and got along wonderfully. Ever since they arrived, the house had been lively every day, with plenty of chaos and commotion.
Most of the time, Jingu Sen followed them around, laughing helplessly as he cleaned up their messes. But sometimes, when he saw the four little ones huddled together as if holding a meeting, he would wonder:
Could they really be his boyfriend and his boyfriend's former colleagues, reincarnated?
Whenever that happened, the grey parrot would cock its head and chirp: [Are you really not going to tell him?]
The Ragdoll, Matsuda, would break out in a cold sweat, but answer firmly: [My lifespan is short. I can't stay with him for long, so let's leave it at that.]
Let it go, let it go...
But when Matsuda's blond former colleague started spending more and more time with his boyfriend, Matsuda could initially console himself that it was normal. But eventually, the two of them shut the animals out and went into a room together, where who knew what they were doing...
Forget letting it go!
The little black ball furiously picked the lock, then kicked the blond bastard in the face. Even when the man caught him in one quick movement, he still bristled and yowled: [Ever heard that a friend's wife is off-limits, you blond bastard?!]
"That's quite a mouth on you."
His boyfriend rescued Matsuda from his former colleague and casually dropped a bombshell.
"Why have you gotten so short-tempered since turning into a cat, Jinpei?"
The little black ball instantly froze like a statue.
The blond former colleague, dark-hearted and mean-spirited, looked thoroughly entertained. He grabbed the two dogs and the bird as they tried to escape, smiling pleasantly.
"Just as you guessed, these really are the ones."
One-on-one, established pairing: Matsuda.
Sweet from start to finish, mostly everyday life. The style is similar to Childhood Friends, with a gentle, low-key sweetness.
Theme: Do not go gentle into that good night.
